Steve had a paper accepted into a conference in Puerto Rico and he had his way paid so I decided to tag along. My sister offered to watch my kids and my mom flew in to be re-enforcement since my sister was pregnant and we didn't want to overwhelm her. Puerto Rico was nothing that I imagined it to be. I'm so glad I went but I don't know that I'd ever have a desire to go back to the main city where we were. Puerto Ricans are crazy drivers, the worst I've ever seen. It was just interesting. We loved exploring and going to the Old Fort and the downtown town of Puerto Rico but our favorite thing was the rain forest. It was AMAZING! We also found a burger place called Buns which is now our most favorite burger and bacon cheese fry place we've ever found. We missed the kids but we REALLY needed this vacation. We stayed in a little hotel where they made breakfast for us every morning. On the way home our flight from Miami to Salt Lake got cancelled AFTER keeping us on the tarmac for 2 and a half hours. We had to race to get in the customer service line, while steve waited in line I tried calling the airline and the best they could do was get us out the next night and they couldn't offer us a hotel or food or anything. I was just so tired and ready to come home. Luckily, we had a little better offer at customer service they put us in a hotel and got us a flight out the next morning. We got to the hotel in Miami super super late. We had to be up for the shuttle early, we both set our alarms and quickly fell asleep. I remember Steve yelling my name and telling me the time. We had planned to be on the 630am shuttle to the airport and it was like 650 so we had to rush to get down for the 7am shuttle so imagine how beautiful we both looked. We were still worried we were going to miss our flight after the time it took to shuttle us there and to get through security. Luckily, we made it just in time and our flight was delayed anyways. Oh we also flew home on my birthday so that sucked. We got home and my mom had made my favorite dinner and a yummy coconut cake. We were so excited to see the kids. We got to hang out with mom for a bit and then we headed back up to the cabin.
