So, I wanted to have our bedroom all painted for Jillian when she returned from California, but the drywall guys seemed to take forever and didn't get the room textured until Friday. My sister, Dawn, was a lifesaver and picked up the primer and paint and a few tools to help the painting go quicker, and she offered to help me paint on Saturday. So I wanted to get the room all primed and sealed on Friday night so that it would have plenty of time to dry before we painted the next morning.
They warned me about using an oil based primer, so I turned on a fan and opened the windows and started rolling the stuff on. At first I thought "this stuff is strong!" and after a couple of hours had passed, I realized that this task went much quicker in the first 20 minutes than it did in the last hour and a half. Needless to say, by the end of the priming ordeal I was so high on paint fumes that the neurotic thoughts in my head made me realize that I was officially trashed! I called Dawn, and she laughed at me the whole call and told me that I really needed to go sit on the front porch for a while. Idaho nights are not warm yet! I settled for opening all of the windows in the house and laying on the couch. I think Dempsey noticed something wrong too because he just stood and looked at me for the longest time-either that or I just thought it was the longest time.
Somewhere during this new sensation--yes, for all of you wild children out there, this was my first experience--I kept getting the thought that I should just relax and chill and fall asleep, but then the rational part of my brain came storming in and reminded me that all of the windows in the house were open and it was below freezing outside. What a trip. I closed up shop and crashed in the basement and when I woke in the morning, it was to the throbbing feeling of a million lost brain cells replaced by what I can only describe as another million little pick axes hammering away in my head.
Dawn came by with Grant and Garrett and we all painted our well ventilated, dry bedroom with a latex paint. I know I keep saying I will post pictures, but they will have to wait until this weekend when we get the window and door trim and base boards installed.
Feel free to welcome me to the real world, but all I want to know is why anyone would willingly subject themselves to such masochism.
