Well, Addison decided that she needed more accessories and a little more bling in her life. She is now 7 months old so we let her decide what she wanted. We took her into Claire's and she decided she wanted her ears pierced (well, I was the only one that heard it, Steve wasn't so sure that's what she wanted). We talked to the associate that has worked at Claire's for 10 years. She wasn't the typical teenager that you often see at Claire's. She just talked to Steve because I was on her side already. She said that it is best to pierce them when children are young-- they're easy to take care of, babies don't mess with them, and there is less chance of getting an infection. If you know me you're probably surprised that I waited this long. I tried to do it a couple months ago but her ear lobes were too small. I know a lot of people believe it should be the child's decision and they should be excited to go get their ears pierced with mom but here is my defense. 1. Addison will want earrings, I'm her mom and I love earrings so I'm pretty sure she'll want them. 2. Why would you want to remember going to get holes poked in your ears with needles? Earrings to me are like vaccinations, they are a must but I'm not making Addison wait to get her immunizations until she can choose to get them or waiting for her to be old enough to remember getting her vaccinations.
Ok all of that last stuff was just a joke. I know a lot of people will be offended and I'll probably have social services at my door soon! All I care is that Addison did so great during the whole thing, she only cried for a minute and was just fine! I love my little girl and would NEVER do anything that I didn't think was in her best interest!
Thank you Steve for being the best husband ever and letting me do this to our little girl! Your the best dad ever! Also, that wasn't anything compared to vaccinations when they come at her with all these needles and shove them in her legs. Just kidding! Addi is so lucky that she has such a great dad!
The un-pierced Addison

Can't wait

I picked the daisies

Wait... no one told me it was going to hurt

If you look really close you can see my little daisy. Mom forgot to take an after picture!

What a trooper she is and daddy too since he had to hold her...
oh, how cute! I totally agree with your reasoning, I had my ears pierced when I was a baby too and I'm glad not to remember it and just enjoy having my earrings. Robert is dead set against me getting Julia's ears pierced until she is older though =(. Why is it always the Dad's who are so reticent about it?
I think its a very smart idea to get her ears pierced young. Like you said they only cry for a second and then get over it. Brooky's ears have closed up now and I'm dreading having to take her back to get them repierced! She will probably cry much worse now that she is older.
Aw...They turned out SO cute! I love the little flowers. It was so fun seeing you guys yesterday! I'm sorry I just couldn't get anything done with both my kids having such a rough day. They both fell asleep on the way home, of course. I'm still craving Cafe Rio so I'll probably be giving you a call in the next day or so!
Oh Jill. You should have ended the post with a happy picture, not a sad one! I can't believe you talked Steve into the ear piercing. You're right about her not remembering it, that is a definite plus! I'm sure she looks cute and stylin' with her new bling!
Hey! It was so good to see you and I love the new bling on Addi. She is already adorable but now...watch out!
