Bottles and Bedtime Stories

I know it's late, and I honestly just returned from the hospital. As I drove home in the snow tonight (there's no denying it anymore- you either refuse to admit it, or plead ignorance because it didn't stick and you slept through it) I couldn't help but smile. Addison is doing so well. In the last 24 hours she has drank 100% of 6 out of 8 bottles, and the other two were over 50%. She has it figured out and can drink a bottle in 5-10 minutes. I even snuck back to the midnight feeding just to make sure that she was still on track- she downed that bottle in 9 minutes. And what's more, she now weighs 2210 grams (4 lbs. 13.95 oz.). I honestly don't know what to do with the rest of our time now that it doesn't take her 30 minutes to eat. We have so much more cuddle time, and sometimes she will stay awake and play with us.

Tonight we started story time. Addison's first bedtime story that I'm reading aloud to her is "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane." We made it to Chapter Five on our first night, and it is a wonderful story. I had to admit to her, though, that there were a few words that I didn't even know the meaning of. This is no Dr. Seuss (though she will be read plenty of those, mind you) or "See Spot Run," but it is such a descriptive, fascinating adventure story.

Because of the hour, we both fell asleep reading it, and I woke up (okay I dozed for a few minutes, so it wasn't really "sleeping") and tucked her in. Here's to sweet dreams and two good feedings before we see her again.

Oh what good news.. it was so scary reading about her forgetting to breathe again the other day, I'm so glad to hear she's doing better again! Quite the little fighter that one :) You guys are in our prayers!
