It's hard to think that it is actually winter here in Tucson. I keep talking to people and they keep talking about how it's winter and that this or that will open after winter or how the allergies are going to get bad after winter is over. In my mind I keep thinking what it's 70 degree's outside what do you mean winter but I guess we will have to get used to this. Most days are 75 to 78 degrees and it's been weeks since it's been under 70 and it was only for a couple days. I guess we are truly in the desert. I was excited to be here because normally Addi gets very sick each winter and I always figured it was because of the bitter cold we had to endure. I was surprised when she got so sick the beginning of February and we ended up having to take her to the Saturday clinic to get checked out. She ended up with pneumonia and was so sick for about a whole week. When we went in for her follow up I told the doctor that I didn't think that people got this kind of sickness because it didn't get cold. It was so funny because he told me that it was cold and that 50 degree's is winter weather here. I am so grateful to have found this doctor because from day one we have struggled to keep Addi healthy, mainly her lungs. It's been so frustrating to have to watch her suffer so much and we have tried SOOO many different things to help her. After talking briefly with her new doctor he talked to me about putting her on an inhaled steroid just like an inhaler but with steroids in it that would go directly to her lungs and would help her build up her lungs and then also protect her when she got sick. He thinks she has pretty severe asthma right now just due to the damage of being on a ventilator, and then getting RSV and bronchitis. Other doctors have put her on steroids but it affected her whole body and I did not feel comfortable with that as a long term goal. I feel much better knowing the medicine is going only where it needs to be! Grateful for good doctors who take the time to listen to their patients and get to know them.

that is scary she was so sick! You know what i was just thinking. I don't know if its true but it always seems like you get sick whenever you travel or move. Especially out of state. I think our bodies havea hard time adjusting to different climates and allergens in new places. Jer was the same way when we moved out east.
