Yesterday after Addi's nap, we took a trip to the Idaho Falls Art Museum, and I can officially say that I don't properly appreciate abstract and symbolic art! Either that, or Addi and I appreciate it just the right amount. Luckily, they had some other exhibits that focused less on impressive technique and more on respectable theme. That and they had a children's art studio, where Addi got right to work recreating much the scribbles and circles of the "masters" on display. They had easels, and wooden blocks, and duplo blocks, and magnetic art, and crayons, and pencils, and Addi loved it! They even had these chairs shaped like hands that she thought were the coolest things. The ladies that worked at the museum were so nice, and would talk to us, and let us stay well after closing time. As we were leaving I realized I had forgotten Addi's diaper bag, and as the fates would have it, I ended up needing it.
So we rushed home, before heading out to do some shopping at Fred Meyer's, easily Addi's favorite store. Our routine is to stop by the bakery for a free kid's cookie, make a trip around the store while she eats it, and then let her play at the playland. The playland here is a relatively new discovery for us- Freddie's has an employee staffed to watch your kids while you shop! And the playland has a playhouse, a train track, tables with crafts, and movies.
I wasn't going to drop Addi off on this trip because we weren't really shopping, more just hanging out, but Addi was insistent- this is the only playland Addi will go to, and not care that we're not there with her. So I wandered the store for 30 minutes or so while she had the time of her life!
We finished the evening with dinner, games, and reading books. I will never grow tired of Addi cuddling up on my lap with her favorite books!
This morning was the usual routine, and then getting ready for church, which is a huge production! I will openly admit that I don't dress Addi for church, so picking out an outfit that fit, and that she liked, was a challenge. In the end we broke down and asked Jillian for direction. But we made it, and got to church on time (I even managed to do her hair somewhat presentably!- I've been learning all weekend!). And Addi was great through sacrament meeting (it helped that we sat behind friends with a girl about Addi's age, who snuck Addi goldfish crackers throughout the meeting).
I know I am exhausting in recounting our lives this weekend, and have made Addi out to be some kind of angel (there have been a few moments that required creative negotiation skills, and included stubornness, but generally she really has been that good). I hope you haven't given up on our blog this weekend (Jillian will be back tomorrow to post pictures!), but for some reason, as I look around our home thinking about everything that needs to get done, the thing I want to do the most is capture these moments before they're gone. So I guess I am a little self-indulgent, and want to thank you for endulging me as well!

I absolutely loved reading yours and addi's adventures this weekend! I only wish you had pictures to go with it but I guess maybe next time?? Addi is such a doll and she is so full of life! I wish we had fun places to go around here like you guys have. Maybe one day we'll be closer so our families can go together.
