An Anniversary to Remember

Saturday, October 23rd was the 6 year anniversary of mine and Jillian's first date. Say what you will about me remembering what to get when I'm sent to the grocery store, or what to ask the mechanic when he's looking at the car, but some important dates don't get by me! It turns out that last weekend was also perfect weather for family pictures. The trees had really started changing colors, it hadn't snowed yet, and the sun was still a little generous. Thankfully we have a few wonderful friends- one couple who lent us their camera, and another who tinkers in photography- who were willing to help us out.

We went to Tautphaus Park where there were plenty of trees, shade, and sun. Addison was such a good sport, and our friend Carlie just followed her around and took pictures of her. Look closely at these- you can even see a few rare pictures of Addi smiling and laughing for the camera!

As we were finishing, an older gentleman came up to us and asked if he could rake a pile of leaves for Addi and her friend (Carlie's little boy) to jump in. He said that when he was little, there was an older man that would do the same thing in their neighborhood for all the children to play in. It was the perfect way to end the day!

That evening, Dawn and Nate took Addison for us while Jillian and I went to dinner and a movie. We spent the evening in historic downtown Idaho Falls, and even saw the movie at the Idaho Falls Center Twin (Jillian's first visit to this old little theater with so much character!) While we were out, Nate and his friends rented a UFC event. When we came home, Nate (and Grant) told us that Addi kept coming downstairs to watch the fights, and they kept bringing her back up to play so she wouldn't see "all the blood"! While she was there, Grant also taught her how to use the wall and railing for support and while she walked down the stairs.

That's cute that you remember the exact date of your first date. and your family pictures look amazing! I want to take family pictures but we haven't yet and we probably wont this year. We are just lacking in motivation! But yours turned out great! happy 6 years of dating!

Steve that is sweet you remember those sort of things. Thats what counts in the end anyway. not the chores or little things like that. You remember whats important. I'm not sure even I remember Jer's and my 1st date. haha
