Mountains meet Miss Addison

Anyone who knows Steve and I, know that we love huckleberry picking. There is a funny story to this and how we came about learning about huckleberries. You've probably heard it but here is the short version. 4 years ago we went camping with some friends and we went to pick huckleberries, none of us knowing what they looked like. Well, we saw several people picking these bluish berries and we decided that those must be huckleberries. So we picked for a whole evening, like hours and then got up the next morning and picked some more we had a 5 gallon bucket full! As we were leaving a man stopped us and asked what we were picking and we showed him and told him huckleberries and he said those are service berries and not huckleberries and then he showed us his huckleberries and had enough pity on us to show us his secret location. We were so bummed but we picked a few huckleberries and ever since we go back to that spot and get huckleberries.

This year we decided to take Addi and see if the mountains were ready for her. We found out they are not. We pick on a hill so it was really steep and she kept holding on to us for dear life and then once she got comfortable she started eating the berries off the bushes so fast and then made her way to our buckets. Next time we will leave her home and hopefully we will have better luck!
