It Won't Be Like This For Long

A week or so ago, I had just traded Jillian places at work- our regular routine lately that includes her packing up Addison, bringing her to work, and me trading places and bringing Addison home. It was an extremely emotional day where the weight of tag-team parenting had fully descended, and as I pulled into the driveway at home Darius Rucker's "It Won't Be Like This For Long" started playing. At the moment I had no idea who the singer was or what the name of the song was, but by the end of the first verse, I was a sobbing mess! It spoke so loudly about enjoying the trials and triumphs and every little moment with Addison. Needless to say I couldn't explain it to Jillian when she got home, and couldn't find the song. But last night we were driving home from my birthday dinner with Dawn and the twins and the song came on. We got home and immediately found it and both sat in silence with Addison as Rucker's voice told us everything we had experienced and have yet to live through with Addison. Once in a while a piece of art says the perfect thing, and this song has become our new family song. Sappy, I know, but life is too short not to recognize and celebrate the journey!
