It's our turn! These last weeks, Addi has grown so much and talked so much that she has begun to either annunciate words or make up her own versions of them. We know every parent has gone through this, and as all of you who have have learned, sometimes it is quite the adventure for us to figure out what she is saying.
This last week, I got to stay home with Addi in the morning while Jillian worked. After getting dressed, eating breakfast, and getting ready, Addi said "gaa-gah." It was distinct, and she was adamant enough, that I figured it must be important, but I was at a loss. She said it again, and looked at me with disbelief when I asked her "what?" "Gaa-gah" she repeated, this time tapping her chest with both hands, like a basketball player calling on a fight (don't ask us where she got this from!) Finally, I said "Show me." Placated enough because I was taking her serious, Addi led me into her bedroom, to her closet, and pointed up, repaeting the same phrase "Gaa-gah." It was only then I realized that Addi wanted her jacket. Nevermind that it was already 80 degrees at 10 in the morning. She wanted her rain coat, and there was no convincing her otherwise. So we compromised and I let her take the jacket with us, but not wear it.
Some are very straight forward, or close enough to figure it out:
Mama
Dada
Cracker = cracker or cereal
Baby
Juice
Bye-Bye
We Go
Papa = Grandpa
Shoose = shoes
Dawn = Aunt Dawn
Noo = no
Halla = yep, our girl is da bomb!
Tank-oo = thank you
Uv-oo = love you
Duck
Cow
Dogga or Woo-woo = dog
Night-night
Book
Some require you to be there, or have her explain them:
Gaa-gah = jacket
Ginkie = blanket
Wah-vuh = water
Coo-Coo = cookie
Giggy = piggy
Ee-yide = Outside
Yah-Yah = Addi's friend Delilah
Nae-Nae = Aunt Shayla
Gan = her cousin Grant
Bi' = bite
Lately it seems to be a growing list, but we are so excited to watch Addi learn and grow, that every word becomes such a big deal to us.
